Our user, DMM International Ltd., have used QForm to solve their forging problems.
The company had used a non-standard billet with a hole in it that was very difficult to position correctly. As a result of bad positioning a lap would occur on the inner surface of part and only 60% of forged parts were of sufficient quality to be used. The video below shows they also had a very high rate of die wear.
In the second half of video is an example of how they solved their technological problems by means of QForm.
- Now they use a standard billet with no punching operation required and the billet position is not critical
- Now the lap does not occur even if the workpiece is positioned incorrectly
- Tool wear is also decreased and distributed evenly along the die impression
